M40a3 Civilian Equivalent - FUNCTION said: K...I can't accept pmcline only post. Here are some photos from this weekend's game. View attachment 7104566View attachment 7104567 I really like this rifle. My favorite rifle though. Click to expand...
For the challenge, I'll be using my MaWhinney M40 scope with a green Leupold Mil Dot.

If it hits me at 100 yards it will give me 5 mil bites with a dot....
Military Ammunition Failures And Solutions
I think I can get about 650-700 using the dots before I run from a pointer at zero 100 yards.
With the simple scope I hope to get a good zero at 100 yards and by leaving it alone I don't have to worry about reloading the turrets let alone when I join it. I think the .308 M40 is 600 yards and a gun. .
I was able to go 300 yards with no setup this week and use sub ranges/bars as needed to hit.
That's probably the best way to set up this gun if I'm going to be traveling long distances every now and then.

The thing is that when I sit on the bench and I try to shoot for the teams I am not satisfied. If I shoot steel all the time Id be in heaven.
I would love to take this gun to the Sig Academy for a "Reach for 1000" class one day. I have to change the expectations of happiness from making small groups on paper to full happiness even when I call steel...

You can drop 100 on the point or where thick meets thin. For groups smaller than 100 you can always write the number of clicks back to the 100yrd center.
The U.s. Marines' M40 Sniper Rifle: One Big Giant Mistake?
If you do the highest point it will give you 9 miles maximum and you should reach 900yrds if you do the stadia section it will give you 10 for a 1000. (My speed is 175fgmm is it's 10.7m to 1k, 8.8 to 900, this is the same and slower than your wristbands)
If you do the load (mine is 175rdf at 2760) it's fine and not over the top you don't need to call. That's what I would do if I had the same goal as you.

Usually when I do shooting ranges without going with 1000 range, I use my M40A1ish with Premier 3-15X.
Honoring The Mark4's Legendary Military Service
I can keep my 100 yard no but if I change my magnification I will change the mileage scale display.
So if I were to go back to 4.5X every screw should be doubled. 10 miles is about as close as I can get to shooting distance.

That's right. To make sure you're at 4.5x, mark 2 mils on a target, and scale down until 2 mils fit 1 mil. Mark that spot on your dot with a pencil.

I've been seeing you flipping through the internet all day......I'm at the pool watching my kids with Daddy Day Care.
So I'm thinking on Friday I'll take my reloads and M40 to 100 yards and get my best 100 yard range.
Again call my extension and when my cross hairs are placed in a section and the first honey dot in between is my "double" extension.

I think those Ivans look good at 1000 yards at 4.5X. Guess the guys did more with less when shooting the 03A4 in WWII.
I finished my M40A1 the other day by attaching the scope, so here is a group photo of my copy of 3 M40s from around 1966-2016. (I won't take an A3 because it's too similar to my A5, and the A6 doesn't interest me and it's too expensive).
It took a few years to find a good M40A1 to unlock the property, but we're glad the A1 project is finished. Hope to dial in the rifle this summer.
It's not an M40 but MARSOC uses something very similar to this and the features are great so I thought I'd share it with you all.

Arizona (one hour north of Phx). Shoot out as much as you can. Even the lightest wind can touch the IPSC at 900ish meters.
West Texas (one hour south of Odessa/Midland). Shoot out as much as you can. 35+ mph rapidly changing wind directions. It was able to take shots at IPSC at 875 meters ~ 2/3 of the shots I took; This was very disappointing when fighting the wind with 7.62 (6.5CM GAP 700 my friend carried in this wind).
The gun is the Delta trade-in SR-25 EMC (M110C clone) with S&B 3-20 Ultra Short with T3 reticle. Ammo used is "7.62" FGMM 175gr.

Pmclaine said: Serious mate? Nike? Put those shoes on at 900 meters with an explosive binary and a picture of Colon Capperdicks. The rifles are beautiful though and I'm so jealous of your range. I've had them for at least 6 years now and they've probably been on 2 deployments with me so they've been around the world and around the US.
I haven't bought anything since I was little since I was a kid, I loved Nike
