Walmart Ammo Prices - A Wednesday afternoon trip to the Walmart store to buy wiper blades took a detour to the ammo aisle. After Walmart Inc. ( WMT ) announced that it would no longer sell certain types of ammunition, including pistol cartridges and .223 and 5.56 rifle cartridges, I was curious to see how the store was stocking ammunition. What's less clear is whether Walmart will stop selling the popular (and cheaper) .22LR ammunition used in pistols and rifles.

As I stand there the shelves are emptying and some customers (myself included) have depleted their limited supply of 9mm ammo, which is not what I experienced in 2013 when I was completely out of ammo and I was at my local Dick's Sporting Goods (DKS). ) laid out the store to try it out for himself.

While I was watching, a customer who bought hundreds of rounds of 9mm ammo said he now had to buy the ammo online and have it shipped to his home. That sentence gave me pause. I suspect mom and pop stores will help fill that void.

The ammo purchases I saw on Wednesday came from a small group of customers, and make no mistake: Walmart can quickly run out of ammo stocks as gun owners rebuild their ammo stocks. Greedy maybe, but now you know how to tell if the stock they have is the same as what you've seen before, brand new stock purchased at high prices from ammo dealers.

Suppose I could go to Otasco for a dollar and get 2 boxes of 50 of the brand I want.

They are raising prices along with everyone else. For over a year they have been charging the 2019 price hike as if they didn't know. Or do they not care? Either way, it could hurt their bottom line now.

I'm tired of people acting like inflation or whatever doesn't affect every industry. For a while, Walmart's whole deal was because they stayed away from guns and ammo because they stocked the ammo to get you into the store, but expected you to be there to buy other things as well. That plan didn't work out as well as they thought.

I was at the Senatobia Walmart this week. I asked the fruity clerk about 22 pairs of shorts. He will check if they are available. They weren't on the product list, so he had to call. BTW, the ammo limit is off, buy what you need. I said, get the shorts, I'll buy a lot of them.
